So you’ve got a bunch of songs you’re working on, you’ve got an album that’s been in the works for years now, and you’re spending more time telling people you’re an artist than actually being one. It’s alright, there’s a lot of people like you, in fact, I was like you at one point too. However being in the spotlight more often and having Rap.com put in my hands, I’ve had to step up my game in order to be an example to the rest of the rap community. I realized what I was doing wasn’t working… having so many notes in the iPhone and iPad just meant that whenever I lost either one I’d have lyrics that I could never get back, because face it, who uses the Cloud these days? Well these days you need to focus on what you want until it happens, right? So what I found was two solutions out of all of the programs out there: Rap Pad and Songwriters Pad. See I know Amir at Rap Pad and I talk with him quite frequently about developing the software and although it has a few shortcomings, there’s no question that it’s the best place for artists to showcase their work and come up with new ideas and put together a final, polished, product of their song. However for building up the song while on the go (without internet connection) and capturing freestyle audios and such… nothing compares to Songwriters Pad.
Through Adobe Air, it’s available on both PC and Mac, as well as on the Android and Apple App Stores. I use it on my PC, my Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad and on the computer you’re able to import audios into the song, and what I like about the app versions is that you’re able to record as many audios as you like and listen back to them and write out the lyrics. As I said about Rap Pad – it’s a great place to get inspiration from other artists (especially the feature where you can look up a word or phrase and see how other artists in the system have used it – as well as the Blueprint to see what your lyrical grade is for the rhymes you’ve written are) but if you’re looking for an offline version of a songwriting tool that has the ability to give you not only inspiration for what to write and has a handy notepad on the side of the lyrics that show you what you picked out from the rhyming engine it has, but also has the ability to store freestyle’s or full recordings of the songs so you can tweak your delivery and timing, look no further than Songwriter’s Pad – and I’m hoping with your support soon he’ll be able to create an .exe for the PC and a .dmg for the Mac so that they can be full applications, however right now the Adobe Air version works just fine. It comes with a one time license fee so you don’t need to worry about paying each month. I highly recommend the software and have used it myself to write songs that have since been performed and listened to all around the world.
